Justice Rajendra Prakash Soni of the Rajasthan High Court passed away on Saturday following a cardiac arrest, according to officials. Justice Soni had experienced chest pain late on Friday and was admitted to a private hospital, where he unfortunately passed away.
Former Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, expressing his condolences, said, "The sudden passing of Rajasthan High Court Judge Shri Rajendra Prasad Soni is deeply saddening. I pray for peace for the departed soul and strength for his family during this difficult time."
Born to Parmeshwari and Ramchandra Soni, a businessman, R. P. Soni completed his commerce degree and earned an LLB from Jai Narayan Vyas University in Jodhpur.
Justice Soni’s distinguished career began when he joined the Rajasthan Judicial Services. He served as a Civil Judge and later as a Senior Civil Judge across various locations before becoming the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Ajmer.
Promoted to the regular District Judge Cadre in 2010, he held positions as Additional District and Sessions Judge in Bharatpur, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Nathdwara, and Udaipur. He also served as the Presiding Officer of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal in Udaipur and Rajsamand, and was posted as Registrar (Administration) at the Rajasthan High Court’s Principal Seat in Jodhpur.
Before his elevation, Justice Soni served as the Principal District and Sessions Judge in Dungarpur, Sirohi, Jalore, Udaipur, and Kota. He was appointed as a Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on January 16, 2023.
